High school girls gymnastics: Prairie Ridge wins first meet by three points

DeKalb Invitational: The Prairie Ridge co-op team opened its season with a victory at the invitational, scoring 145.05 points.

The co-op, which has athletes from Cary-Grove, Crystal Lake Central, Crystal Lake South and Prairie Ridge, has won three consecutive state team titles. DeKalb, also a co-op team, was last year’s state runner-up and scored 142 on Friday.

Junior Kira Karlblom was third in all-around and won the floor exercise at 9.475. She also tied for fourth on vault with teammate Katie McEnery at 9.125.

Junior Clancy Raupp took second on beam (9.4), third on vault (9.2) and fifth on uneven bars (9.2).

Juniors Maddy Kim and Ciara Ryan tied for the bars title at 9.3. Kim took fifth in exercise at 9.225, and Ryan was fourth on beam at 8.95.

Senior Katarina Schaffer was fourth in floor exercise at 9.25.
