To the Editor:
It was disappointing to see that belief in God is considered superstition and that there is a need for reasoned law versus biblical law.
First, define reasoned law. Equality, human dignity, absolute truth, morality, the universe – all can be discussed in a reasoned manner, both from a science and theological view. People with some of the greatest minds (Newton, Pascal, many others) experienced God in their work and life.
What has secular reasoning given us during the past 100-plus years? Decay in ethics, lost moral compass, sexual confusion, etc. We see evidence of this in corporate corruption, fragile minds/emotions of students in higher education, and all kinds of confusion of a basic fact that there are men and women, and God created them for a purpose. As for Alabama, there is no good choice for anyone who reasonably looks at the facts. Choose Roy Moore and you are picking a man accused of having sexual relations with a minor; choose Doug Jones and you are picking a man who supports the killing of babies.
