LAKE IN THE HILLS – A Firehouse Subs shop is slated for an early January opening in Lake in the Hills.
The sandwich shop, 290 N. Randall Road, is part of a strip mall that includes Morningside Family Dental and Fannie May Fine Chocolates. The store is a franchise of the business founded by firefighters more than 20 years ago.
Cousins and business partners Pinal and Mayank Patel own the soon-to-be opened space, according to a news release.
“We are thrilled to be opening the first Firehouse Subs in Lake in the Hills,” Pinal Patel said in a statement. “We joined the Firehouse Subs family not only because we love the food, but more importantly because we align with the brand’s family values and the importance they place on giving back to the community. We couldn’t ask for a better place to open our first restaurant or a more perfect brand to invest with and grow.”
The restaurant decor reflects the founding family's decades of fire and police service, according to the release. Decor includes chief mural artist Joe Puskas' custom, hand-painted mural of a Lake in the Hills welcome sign alongside the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District fire engine 141.
Pictures also show people standing in front of the Fox River eating Firehouse subs while holding a fishing pole.
The branch is the first restaurant for the Patel family, who signed a multi-unit franchise agreement to develop four restaurants in the northwest suburbs.
The location will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and will offer a to-go station. Owners expect to open in early January after employee training is complete.
