CRYSTAL LAKE – Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department extinguished a fire that caused $20,000 in damage to a house Monday afternoon.
About 12:15 p.m. Monday, Crystal Lake fire crews responded to a 911 call about a fire in the 6000 block of Chestnut Lane, according to a news release. Fire crews arrived on the scene and found smoke coming from the bathroom at the back of the home, authorities said.
The fire appeared to start in the crawl space beneath the master bathroom. Fire crews put the fire out at 12:44 p.m., authorities said.
No one was injured in the fire. The total amount of damage is estimated to be in excess of $20,000, authorities said.
The McHenry County Planning and Development Department responded to the scene and deemed the structure uninhabitable until repairs are made.
The cause of the fire still is under investigation, authorities said.
