Woodstock fire displaces 3 residents, multiple pets

Not all animals survived

WOODSTOCK – A mobile home fire displaced three people and multiple pets Tuesday morning.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to a report of a trailer fire about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Queen Anne Road in Woodstock.

Three residents escaped the fire without injuries. However, not all of their animals survived, Woodstock Fire Capt. Brendan Parker said.

The people had multiple pets in the home, including two dogs, four cats, a gecko and an iguana. The dogs survived, and one cat is missing, but the rest died in the fire, Parker said.

The camper is a total loss, but no damage estimate was available Tuesday afternoon.

The American Red Cross provided the residents with resources for relocation, and relatives also are helping, Parker said.

Temperatures were in the single digits Tuesday, and McHenry County was under a wind chill advisory until noon, according to the National Weather Service.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, and it does not appear that the cause of the fire is suspicious, Parker said.
