High school girls basketball roundup: Dundee-Crown, Hampshire win at Charger-Komaromy Classic; McHenry scores 83 in Milwaukee

Gianine Boado scored 16 points and dished out four assists to lead Dundee-Crown to a 62-30 win over St. Charles North Wednesday in a first-round consolation game at the Charger-Komaromy Christmas Classic in Carpentersville.

Boado had three of seven 3-pointers for the Chargers. D-C jumped out to a 16-3 lead after the first quarter and built a 31-15 lead at half. Kennedy White added 12 points with two 3s for D-C (9-5), and Alyssa Crenshaw had 12 points and eight rebounds.

Payton Schmidt pitched in seven points, and Cassidy Randl had six points on two 3s.

D-C next faces Chicago Resurrection at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Hampshire 39, South Elgin 32: At the Charger-Komaromy Christmas Classic, the Whip-Purs won their first-round consolation game behind big games from Kelby Bannerman and Ally Cermak.

Bannerman had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds for Hampshire (6-9), and Cermak also scored 14 points on the strength of four 3s.

Hampshire next plays Prospect at 2 p.m. Thursday.

McHenry 83, Milwaukee Hamilton (Wisconsin) 47: At Milwaukee, Aannah Interrante poured in a game-high 23 points for the Warriors (15-1), who earned their 11th straight victory.

Izzy Gscheidle scored 20 points with a pair of 3s, Liz Alsot had 17 points while Ava Interrante added 11 points. McHenry knocked down 18-of-21 free throws in the win.

Marian Central 56, Mundelein 41: At the Grant Holiday Tournament in Fox Lake, Vannessa Garrelts led the Hurricanes with 19 points and two 3s in a win over the Mustangs.

Janelle Allen and Lindsey Bahl each pitched in 10 points for the Hurricanes (10-6), who improved to 2-0 in the tournament. Regan Dineen had seven points and Maggie Palmer added six.

Marian next faces North Chicago at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Hinsdale Central 49, Jacobs 32: At the Wheaton North Falcon Classic in Wheaton, the Golden Eagles (4-8) fell to 0-2 in the tournament with a loss to the Red Devils. Elizabeth Schwartz led Jacobs with 11 points and two 3s and Kyra Cabusao pitched in nine points and four rebounds. Jacobs had just 11 points in the second half.

Courtney Durben had five points, and Kerri Healy added three points and nine rebounds.

Jacobs fell to Bartlett, 54-47, in its first game on Tuesday. Cabusao led the way with 19 points and Healy added 15.

Montini 75, Huntley 25: At the Montini Christmas Tournament in Lombard, the Red Raiders (1-10) fell in the tournament opener to the Lady Broncos. Kamsi Nwogu led Huntley with 11 points. 

The Raiders next face Oak Park-River Forest at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Niles West 56, Cary-Grove 50: At the Libertyville Winter Tournament in Libertyville, the Trojans (8-6) lost to the Wolves and fell to 1-1 in the tournament. C-G next faces Rolling Meadows at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
