High school boys basketball roundup: Richmond-Burton takes third at E.C. Nichols Holiday Tournament

Jeff Jankowski poured in 28 points Friday to lead Richmond-Burton to a 56-50 victory over Harvest Christian in the third-place game of the E.C. Nichols Holiday Classic at Marengo.

The Rockets (7-5) also received 12 points from Luke Uhwat, and Mark Marzahl scored eight points on the strength of two 3-pointers.

Woodstock North 54, North Boone 49: At the E.C. Nichols Holiday Classic, the Thunder (3-7) won for a second straight day to close out tournament play in the consolation fifth-place game.

Ryan Schaffter knocked down threes 3s to pace North with 14 points. Joseph Grover scored 10 points, and Zach White provided eight points.

Woodstock 58, Round Lake 51: at the E.C. Nichols Holiday Classic in Marengo, a 24-point second quarter propelled the Blue Streaks to the win in the consolation seventh-place game.

Mikey Gardner led Woodstock (5-7) with 18 points. Evan Bridges pitched in with nine points, and Tyler Peake and Carl Anderson each scored eight points.

McHenry 66, Glenbard East 53: At the York Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament in Elmhurst, the Warriors shot almost 81 percent from 2-point range and hit 8-of-16 3-point attempts in the win.

Gavin Markgraff connected on 5 of 6 from 3-point range on his way to a game-high 26 points. He finished 9 of 10 from the field overall to lead McHenry (8-4).

Maki Mohr chipped in with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Jacob Evans also had 12 points, and Gio Calabrese drained three 3s on his way to 11 points.

Harlem 58, Hampshire 53: At the Chuck Dayton Holiday Classic in DeKalb, J.D. Shaw provided a big game for Hampshire (2-9) with 19 points, six rebounds, three blocks and two steals in a loss to Harlem. Marcus Lazar pitched in 11 points, Nathan Cork had nine points, Collin Woods scored seven, and Drew Dalby had 11 rebounds to go along with six points, four blocks and two steals.

Chicago Vocational 55, Huntley 52: At the Chuck Dayton Holiday Classic in DeKalb, Davis Pasco poured in a game-high 22 points, but the Red Raiders fell short.

Uchenna Egekeze and Cory Knipp each provided Huntley (2-9) with 10 points, while Patrick Roppolo had seven points.

Niles Notre Dame 61, Dundee-Crown 47: At the Wildcat Hardwood Classic in Wheeling, the Chargers were unable to recover from a 13-point halftime deficit.

Jack Orndahl posted a team-high 14 points for D-C (7-5), while Gabe Bergeron recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Brad Stec chipped in with 10 points.

Faith Lutheran 49, Alden-Hebron 44: At the Alden-Hebron Holiday Tournament in Hebron, Faith Lutheran took home third place with its first win of the season.

Gideon Schauer scored a team-high 16 points for the Saints. Tyler Oman had 11 points and connected on the go-ahead 3-pointer before sealing the win with a pair of free throws. Josh Rolnicki added seven points.
