ALGONQUIN – A small barn was destroyed Tuesday morning in an accidental fire in Algonquin, a fire official said.

The barn – about 18 feet by 25 feet – was burned to the ground about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at 701 Roger St., Assistant Fire Chief Mike Kern said.

The barn was detached from the house, and residents were home and sleeping at the time of the fire.

No one was injured, Kern said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Kern said, but it appears to be accidental.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Cary, Fox River Grove and Huntley fire protection districts as well as the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue District responded.
