HEBRON – Two women were hospitalized after a crash Wednesday morning in Hebron.
Crews from the Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District responded about
8:45 a.m. Wednesday to Route 47 and O’Brien Road for a reported crash, Fire Chief Thomas Linneman said.
When first responders arrived, they found two vehicles with moderate damage, and one appeared to be off the roadway. Linneman said one individual needed to be extricated from a vehicle, and two people were sent to Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center – Harvard with minor injuries.
The road was blocked for 15 to 20 minutes, and McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies and Hebron police directed traffic.
After an investigation, the sheriff’s office determined that Elena Perez, 39, of Harvard was driving east on O’Brien Road in a Mercedes-Benz GL450 when she failed to yield at the intersection, Sheriff’s Deputy Sandra Rogers said.
A 57-year-old Aurora woman was traveling north on Route 47 when Perez struck her Toyota Corolla. The women were the only occupants in their vehicles.
Perez was cited for failing to yield at an intersection, operating an uninsured vehicle and operating a vehicle with suspended registration.
