High school boys swimming roundup: Jacobs co-op beats Cary-Grove co-op; McHenry tops Huntley

The Jacobs co-op boys swim team won nine of 11 events in a 95-75 victory over Cary-Grove co-op on Tuesday at Sage YMCA in Crystal Lake.

Eric Boysen and Elijah Stuart each won two individual events and contributed on two relay victories for the Jacobs co-op, which is made up of athletes from Jacobs, Dundee-Crown and Hampshire.

Boysen won the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.94) and the 100 butterfly (54.99). Stuart won the 50 freestyle (22.61) and the 100 free (49.76). Both were members of the victorious 200 medley relay team (1:41.31) and the 400 free relay (3:23.13). They were joined on both those relay teams by Reid Coyle and Harold Ogaban.

Ogaban also won the 200 free (1:50.42). Teammate Vince Chiappetta won the 500 free (5:00.80) and Alec Orndahl won the 100 backstroke (56.90).

For the C-G co-op, which consists of swimmers from C-G, Crystal Lake Central, Crystal Lake South and Prairie Ridge, Hunter Jackson won the 100 breaststroke (1:04.29). The 200 free relay team of Omid Babakhani, Cameron Castro, Nick Gerstbrein and Kolin Fadden was also victorious (1:32.02).

McHenry 91, Huntley 79: At McHenry, Riley Hedberg and Jonah Smith each won two events to lead McHenry to a 91-79 win against Huntley in a Fox Valley Conference meet.

Hedberg won the 50-yard freestyle (22.68) and 100 butterfly (55.60). Smith won the 200 free (2:01.40) and 100 free (51.33). Both were members of the winning 200 medley relay (1:47.09), along with Luke Rose and Dylan Qualls, and the 200 freestyle relay (1:34.80) with Nathan Murrin and Tyler Hemphill.

Also for the Warriors, Hemphill won the 100 breaststroke (1:06.92).

For the Red Raiders, sophomore Maxwell Hagberg won the 200 individual medley (2:09.59) and the 500 freestyle (5:11.43), while freshman Kacper Cebula won the 100 backstroke (59.42). Both were members of the 400 freestyle relay victory (3:36.48) with Marco LoPiccolo and Evan Tocmo.
