High school girls basketball roundup: Alden-Hebron tops Christian Liberty Academy co-op in regional semifinal; Marian Central holds off Johnsburg in OT

Eden Wanderer had a game-high 17 points on six field goals for Alden-Hebron as the Giants rolled past Christian Liberty Academy co-op, 66-37, in a Class 1A Christian Liberty Academy Regional semifinal in Arlington Heights on Tuesday.

The Giants (16-7) advance to play Ida Crown in the regional championship at 7 p.m. Thursday. Ida Crown defeated Elgin Academy, 39-23, in the second semifinal.

Alden-Hebron led Christian Liberty, 25-19, at half and outscored the Chargers, 41-18, over the final two quarters.

Kylee Winter added 16 points on eight field goals for the Giants, and Rachel Pahl tallied 15 points on six field goals. Taylor Horton tallied eight points, Katie Rosio added six, and Abby Wanderer had four.

Marian Central 61, Johnsburg 60 (OT): At Woodstock, Amber Reynolds paced the Hurricanes with 18 points and six 3-pointers in the nonconference victory.

Marian and Johnsburg were tied after three quarters, 32-32, and again at the end of regulation, 46-46. The Hurricanes then outscored the Skyhawks, 15-14, in overtime.

Janelle Allen had 18 points for Marian (17-12), and Vannessa Garrelts scored 13 points with a pair of 3s.

Johnsburg (16-13) was led by Katelyn Davis with 21 points and five 3s, also going 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. Megan Madsen had 16 points, Heather Arden had 11 points and three 3s, and Mackenzie Straulin had eight points and two 3s.

Johnsburg finished with 10 3s, and Marian had eight.

Grant 51, Crystal Lake South 48: At Fox Lake, Lauren Schoen's 20 points and six 3s were not enough for the Gators in a nonconference loss to the Bulldogs. Brooke Kuffel added 10 points and a 3 for South (7-18), and Maddie Bush had seven points and a 3.

Burlington Central 67, Woodstock 26: At Burlington, Julia Vosburgh and Emma Brand each had seven points and a 3 for the Blue Streaks (10-16, 6-5 KRC) in the Kishwaukee River Conference loss. Jessica Flynn added five points and a 3.

Kathryn Schmidt scored 20 points for the Rockets (25-3, 10-1), and Elana Wells had 16.
