High school girls basketball roundup: Alden-Hebron wins Class 1A regional title

Giants to play Walther Christian in sectional semifinal Monday

Eden Wanderer scored 22 points and led Alden-Hebron past Ida Crown, 48-29, to win the IHSA Class 1A Christian Liberty Academy Regional title Thursday in Arlington Heights.

The regional title is the Giants’ first in girls basketball since the 2014-15 season.

Wanderer made seven field goals and shot 8 of 10 from the free-throw line. Rachel Pahl scored 11 points and Kylee Winter added nine for A-H (17-7).

The Giants led by four at halftime and dominated the third quarter, 17-4, to pull away in the second half.

A-H advances to the Class 1A Walther Christian Sectional semifinal at 6 p.m. Monday in Melrose Park. A-H will face the host, Walther Christian.

Burlington Central 63, Woodstock North 38: At Burlington, Woodstock North lost to Burlington Central in Kishwaukee River Conference action. With the win, the Rockets (26-3, 11-1 KRC) locked up the KRC title outright.

North drops to 5-22 overall and 2-10 in the KRC.

Richmond-Burton 53, Harvard 40: At Harvard, the Rockets (5-20, 4-8 KRC) picked up a KRC win over the Hornets.

Haily Hill and Lauren Shafer each scored nine points for Harvard (2-22, 0-12 KRC). Catherine Austin and Elizabeth Davies added eight points each.
