Junior college baseball: McHenry County College splits season-opening doubleheader in Tennessee

The McHenry County College baseball team opened its season Sunday by splitting a doubleheader against Jackson State Community College in Jackson, Tennessee. MCC won the opener, 14-2, in five innings and lost the second game, 5-4.

Leading the Scots at the plate in the opener were Jeff Heinrich (Huntley graduate), who went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and three runs scored, Zach Teegen (Prairie Ridge), who was 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, three runs and two RBIs, and Ryan Parquette (Crystal Lake South), who was 2 for 2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs.

Ryan Anderson pitched four innings to earn the win, allowing two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

In the second game, the Scots' Tyler Stamer went 2 for 3 with a homer, and starting pitcher Logan Streit (Harvard) struck out five and allowed one earned run in three innings in a no-decision.
