The Woodstock-based chocolate company wants to renovate the former Elks Lodge building off the Woodstock Square and has raised more than $4,000 toward its $30,000 goal. The larger space could allow the “bean-to-bar” shop to increase production and create an incubator kitchen, an event space and a speak-easy-style bar in the basement.
Ethereal Confections has been searching for a new location for about two years and recently discovered the 10,000-square-foot space at 140 Cass St., which is more than double the space of its current location.
In the new space, the shop wants to offer community nights that feature local art, crafts, music and literature. The cafe would expand and offer more menu items and chocolates.
Ethereal Confections needs $30,000 to begin the project and has an ultimate goal of more than $150,000, according to its Kickstarter campaign.
“We’ve proven we can take daring new ideas and make them a reality,” the owners wrote on the page. “As with any big project, we may run into construction issues that require more money than we think. It also may take a while for people to discover and make use of our new facilities. All of these may be challenges that prevent us from fully building out our vision.”
Ethereal Confections got its start at farmers markets and eventually moved into a small space on Woodstock Square. The company now is at its second location at 113 S. Benton St.
