A Democratic candidate for the 14th Congressional District just got a shout out from one of TV’s most politically outspoken figures.
Chelsea Handler, best known as host of “Chelsea Lately” on the E! network from 2007 to 2014, shared on Twitter the latest campaign commercial from Lauren Underwood, D-Naperville, who is running against six others for the Democratic nomination in the 14th District. The Illinois primary election is Tuesday.
After a couple of typos in her Friday morning tweet, Handler wrote, “Please get out and vote for this incredible candidate.”
Handler is not from Illinois, but the tweet was shared more than 300 times by Friday evening.
The 14th District includes part of McHenry County, as well as parts of DeKalb, DuPage, Lake, Kane, Kendall and Will counties.
Underwood is joined on the Democratic primary ballot by George Weber, D-Lakewood; Matthew Brolley, D-Montgomery; Victor Swanson, D-Batavia; John Hosta, D-Spring Grove; Jim Walz, D-Gurnee; and Daniel Roldan-Johnson, D-Volo. All are vying for the chance to go up against incumbent Randy Hultgren, R-Plano, in November.
