To the Editor:
On behalf of the business TLC Massage, Ltd., the employed massage therapists and loyal clientele, I would like to apologize for the Northwest Herald’s associating a picture of our business with the above article title (March 5, 2018).
For those who just scan and do not read the article in full, it creates defamation of character. TLC Massage, Ltd., has been a long (20-plus years) and upstanding business in Crystal Lake with a five-star online presence.
As far as using legal language in any form of advertising, marketing and/or promotion, let it be clear that the Illinois Massage Licensing Act forbids the use of the words “massage,” “massage therapy” and “massage therapist” by any unauthorized person(s).
In other words, you need to be an Illinois state licensed massage therapist or you’re in violation of Section 30 Title Protection.
With respect to Section 30, I’m still confused as to how allowing illegitimate businesses to illegally use our Title Protection and how it “could interfere with free speech rights.”
And just maybe, the Northwest Herald could atone for their indiscretion of associating their headline with our business picture by allowing this letter to the editor to run.
