At the April 22 Woodstock Folk Festival Invitational, they will be reading Sandburg poems.
Additionally, the Atrocious Poets will be guiding community members to create their own collaborative poem.
It will start with one of the Atrocious Poets members providing the first line or two of a poem.
“Then we’ll take our typewriter around town to various locations and encourage people to sit down and add a few lines of their own – perhaps inspired by the previous lines, but who knows,” Zehr said.
“We’ll be taking this collaborative poem to our own events, farmer’s markets, salons, coffee shops, break rooms, etc. We hope this poem will act as kind of a poetic time capsule: This is what the people in Woodstock were feeling, seeing and creating during April 2018. After April, we plan to share and display the community poem.”
The completed poem should be on display around town in May.
