One of the great parts of having Pro Football Weekly as part of Shaw Media is seeing how things operate during draft season.
The draft is its top specialty, and it has been doing it for years without that changing.
If you want to know about a prospect, PFW staff can tell you about it when you buy the magazine at your local newsstand, sign up for the exclusive email newsletter, subscribe to draft expert Greg Gabriel’s online player breakdowns, listen to the PFW Chicago and PFW podcasts, or head to the Crystal Lake Rib House on Tuesday night.
PFW’s Hub Arkush will be there, and so will much of the crew, from PFW managing editor Arthur Arkush to Bears reporter Bob Legere to NFL writer Eric Edholm.
They’ll be doing a live broadcast during the 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday time slot, breaking down everything from the Bears to the rest of the NFL, and they’ll be there to take questions afterward.
I’ve been to three of these events – in Crystal Lake, Joliet and Oswego – and I always learn something new and leave way better informed than when I arrived.
There will be a raffle, giveaways and some outstanding food and beverages available, as well.
It’ll be fun. You’ll get to talk football. And, if you want to talk about the Northwest Herald, I’ll be there and will be happy to talk with you about that, too.
Because if there’s one thing I love to talk about, it’s the work we’re doing here. I’m passionate about our work and always encourage feedback.
As for PFW, nobody knows more about the NFL Draft.
From Greg Gabriel to the Arkushes and their team, they’ve followed every element of this and simply know their stuff.
So study up, bring good questions, and be ready to listen as they give you the lowdown on the draft process and what to expect. They know it all, from the Bears to every other NFL team, and can give you the insight.
They were at the NFL Combine, the Senior Bowl and have watched hours of film to reach the informed opinions they have. And, yes, they’ve done mock drafts, too.
They’re fun to write, fun to read and help fans get a look at who might be available when the Bears are set to pick at No. 8 on April 26. Or maybe they won’t pick ... and they’ll trade down.
Vote in Best of the Fox
As you’re probably aware, our Best of the Fox voting is going on now through April 22.
Heck, you can head to the Crystal Lake Rib House on Tuesday and see if they’re your favorite and vote for them afterward. Or, wherever you like.
The beauty of the contest and voting is that it’s all driven by you, our readers. If you like a local business, head to the website and vote for them. If you don’t see them on the list, write in the name and it will be added.
Simple, powerful and all about you.
I received plenty of feedback this week again, both positive and negative. Keep that coming.
