Letter: In need of regime change

To the Editor:

What happened to the “Grand Old Party”?

They’ve abandoned their morals and values for the principals of greed. The Republican Party publically endorsed alleged child molesters and womanizers in recent elections. Their motto is to win at any cost’.

Republicans used to defend our justice system, support the FBI and work for people’s interests.

It looks like they’ve turned those noble duties over to Democrats. Fighting the justice system and hating the FBI used to be job of left-wing liberals. Now, it’s what Republicans do.

Republican politicians abuse the power gained from their control of Congress and the Presidency, ‘cashing in’ for themselves, and helping their rich friends do the same. Republicans used to be cautious about foreign relations, especially with Russia, China and dictators. Not now.

Republicans abandoned demands for fiscal responsibility. They’re spending like drunken sailors. Republicans passed unpopular tax breaks, putting projections for the National Deficit at all-time highs.

They gave temporary tax relief to citizens, while granting permanent tax cuts for businesses. Republican Congressional ostriches stuck their heads in the sand and allowed Trump to start several trade wars, which will likely harm our economy and raise prices for consumers.

The State of the Union address had 5,866 words in it. Trump didn’t say deficit or debt once. In his personal life, Trump has declared bankruptcy at least four times. The United States isn’t a company that can claim bankruptcy.

Mounting debt puts us on the fast track to being a third-world economy. The only solution will be massive taxes. That painful action will likely be left to the incoming Democrats. Then, the Republicans will blame the Dems for high taxes.

Trump said he’d surround himself with the best people and drain the swamp. In 15 months, the good people have resigned or been fired. EPA Chairman Pruitt is a shining example of the swamp and Trump supports him. The skeleton staff remaining at the White House is made up of Fox News personalities.

Fox News … “The More You Watch, The Less You Know”.

If we really want to Make America Great Again then we will need a regime change.
