First responders battled a fire that destroyed two homes and at least one vehicle Sunday afternoon in Huntley.
Authorities were dispatched to the 14100 block of Saffron Trail about
2:10 p.m. Sunday for a reported structure fire. One house had caught fire, and it spread to the neighboring residence.
A third home appeared to have minor damage.
A car could be seen burned in the garage as firefighters battled flames nearly an hour later.
No one was injured, officials on the scene said.
Deanna Lazar-Noie, who lives nearby, said she saw the smoke when she was driving to her Sun City home from Woodman’s grocery store. She said she had never seen anything like it.
“Never have I seen a fire like this,” she said. “I have never experienced a fire, thank God.”
She added that the community was tight-knit and supportive.
“[Neighbors] are bringing water out to the firemen. ... I am an enthusiastic supporter of the department. They are just incredible.”
Officials on the scene didn’t have a damage estimate or cause for the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
