Hampshire woman, child injured in Sunday crash

A 54-year-old Montgomery woman died and a Hampshire woman and child were injured in a car crash Sunday night.

Kane County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched about 11:30 p.m. Sunday to Route 47, south of Beith Road, in unincorporated Campton Township, for a report of a traffic crash with injuries, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Linda Clark of Montgomery was driving a Honda Civic southbound on Route 47 when she crossed the center line for an unknown reason and struck a Toyota Highlander traveling north, police said.

A 29-year-old Hampshire woman and a 1-year-old boy were in the Toyota Highlander, police said.

Clark was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 29-year-old woman and boy were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team. No tickets were issued.

Route 47 was closed between Beith Road and Route 38 until about 4:45 a.m. Monday.
