The Johnsburg Road Bridge over Dutch Creek, located in the Village of Johnsburg, approximately 0.6 miles east of Illinois Route 31, recently underwent a routine inspection, in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS).
Johnsburg Road is under the jurisdiction of the McHenry County Division of Transportation.
During this routine inspection, structural deficiencies were noted. The details of this inspection were provided to the Illinois Department of Transportation. They have reviewed the structural deficiencies and determined there is a need to place a weight restriction on this bridge.
The McHenry County Division of Transportation, as of May 10 will have posted the following weight restrictions on the Johnsburg Road Bridge.
Single-unit vehicles will be restricted at 32 tons. Vehicles with three or more axles will be restricted at 37 tons.
McHenry County has 132 bridges on the National Bridge Inventory (NBI) which are all subject to the NBIS.
The McHenry County Division of Transportation inspects all 132 bridges which are comprised of 50 bridges under the jurisdiction of the County and 82 bridges which are under various township’s jurisdiction.
