A 24-year-old Algonquin man was charged with driving under the influence Saturday night after he hit a tree and flipped his Jeep in a residential neighborhood, police said.
George Vazquez Jr. was driving east in the 3200 block of Nottingham Drive about 11:45 p.m. when he allegedly struck a mailbox and tree, Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Ryan Markham said. His vehicle sustained extensive damage and rolled over.
Vazquez was not seriously injured and declined medical help at the scene, Markham said.
Vazquez also was issued citations for driving while using an electronic device and operating a vehicle without insurance. He was released on bond at the police station.
