To the Editor:
Thank you for your "Our View" editorial piece on Friday, June 8. I got quite a chuckle from the opinion that the public has a right to know which illegal aliens (not undocumented immigrants) were arrested and where they were taken. Why exactly do we need to know that? Chances are they are here using false documents under false names so what does it matter?
The hypocrisy of the Northwest Herald provided the most humor. Does the paper provide the public with the country of origin of people committing violent crimes in McHenry County? Don't we have the right to know if illegal immigrants, who have broken the law already by simply being here, have committed violent crimes?
Very few people in this country are opposed to legal immigration. What many Americans are opposed to is illegal immigrants taking advantage of social welfare programs, voting in our elections, and demanding that they be made citizens without following the proper path as others have done.
The print media in this country used to be an unbiased source of information that allowed the public to form their own opinion. Now you simply promote a leftist agenda and skew every story to fit your personal beliefs.
