The village of Algonquin and the Algonquin Public Arts Commission will host the 11th annual Art on the Fox fine arts show this weekend.
Art on the Fox is produced by JMF Events and sponsored in part by several sponsors, including Algonquin Square Apartment Homes, E.J. Plesko and Associates Inc., Coldwell Banker Real Estate, Kyuki-Do Martial Arts, Algonquin Commons, Chiro One Wellness Centers, Handmade on Main, Jewel-Osco, The Home Depot, Port Edward Restaurant and Star 105.5 FM radio.
“We continue to be blessed by the strong response our community provides in support of the arts,” village President John Schmitt said. “Every year, additional sponsors step up and provide more opportunities to promote art in Algonquin.”
Art on the Fox is free and open to the public, and artists will have artwork for sale in a variety of media, including sculptures, paintings, photography, jewelry and glass.
Returning artists include award-winning favorites such as Matthew Brej and James Vitullo. Art on the Fox again will feature the Picasso Zone, a children’s art area with free projects and demonstrations, food vendors such as Riverbottom Ice Cream Co., and folk music performed by local residents Phil Munton, Mary Lai and Merv Collins.
This year will feature a “Foxes of Art on the Fox” contest, with more than
75 painted ceramic foxes to be displayed and voted on during the weekend.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to
5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Riverfront Park, which overlooks the scenic Fox River in the heart of the community’s historic downtown.
Riverfront Park is on North Harrison Street, one block north of Algonquin Road.
