To the Editor:
Candidates’ college experience is a good indicator of their ability to understandand successfully deal with the many complex issues facing Congress.
Lauren Underwood is a Registered Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan (ranked the fourth-best national public university). She went on to receive a Master of Science in Nursing, and a Master of Public Health in Public Health ursing and Health Policy, from Johns Hopkins University (ranked first nationally in those fields).
Randy Hultgren earned a bachelor’s degree from Bethel University (a small, evangelical Minnesota college), and received a law degree from Chicago’s Kent College of Law.
So it seems to me that Ms. Underwood is much better equipped to acquire and apply comprehensive insight regarding multifarious national problems such as Medicare,Veteran Healthcare, Social Security, federal finance and taxes, macro-economicissues, and environmental change, among many others. She has comprehensive education and experience in healthcare issues, and has the raw brainpower to quickly masterfinancial issues.
Mr. Hultgren undoubtedly is able to help make sure that legislation wording is legally correct, once others have decided what should be included that legislation. His lack of thinking for himself is demonstrated by the fact that he voted with Trump 96 percent of the time, including a number of issues that hurt those in his district.
