A 27-year-old man remained at the McHenry County Jail on Tuesday on charges of possession of heroin and methamphetamine.
Island Lake police arrested Jason R. Martinez on Friday, who they said intended to deliver less than 5 grams of methamphetamine and less than 15 grams of heroin, according to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court.
Martinez, of the 100 block of Fairfield Drive, Island Lake, is charged with methamphetamine delivery, possession with intent to deliver heroin and resisting a peace officer, jail records show.
A conviction of the most serious charge, possession with intent to deliver heroin, could land Martinez behind bars for four to 15 years.
McHenry County Judge Suzanne Mangiamele set Martinez’s bond at $75,000 Saturday. He must post $7,500 bail to be released, jail records show.
Martinez has no criminal history in McHenry County, public records show.
The McHenry County Public Defender’s Office has been appointed to represent him.
Martinez is expected to appear in court July 23.
