Police officer, motorist injured in Route 31 crash

A McHenry Police Department vehicle with lights and sirens activated collided with another vehicle at about 5 p.m. Friday sending two people to the hospital.

The police vehicle, going north on Front Street (Route 31), collided with a Porsche Cayenne as it left a parking area at 406 N. Front St. The collision caused the police vehicle to strike a Chevrolet van, headed south on Front Street. The van struck a Chevrolet Cruze, also traveling south.

The driver of the police vehicle and the Porsche were taken to Centegra Hospital – McHenry.

A police K-9 was taken to Woodstock Animal Hospital to be examined.
