Golf: Lexi Harkins takes 5th in Illinois Women's Open; Jordan Hahn leads Illinois State Amateur

Crystal Lake's Lexi Harkins finished in fifth place Wednesday in the 24th annual Phil Kosin Illinois Women's Open at Mistwood in Romeoville.

Harkins, a Crystal Lake Central graduate who recently turned professional after her college career at North Carolina and Wisconsin, finished at 2-under-par 214, 14 strokes off the pace of Hannah Kim of Santa Ana, California. Kim, who recently turned pro after her career at Northwestern, finished at 16-under 200, breaking the tournament record by seven strokes.

Spring Grove's Mackenzie Hahn, a Richmond-Burton graduate who will be a sophomore at Wisconsin, finished tied for 20th at 8-over 224.

Hahn's brother, Jordan, meanwhile, holds a three-stroke lead in the Illinois State Amateur Championship in Bloomington. Jordan Hahn, a senior at Wisconsin, is at 5-under 135 entering Thursday's 36-hole finale at Bloomington Country Club.
