Richmond will host a National Night Out and bicentennial event Saturday.
The outdoor event will be from
3 to 8 p.m. at Richmond-Burton Community High School, 8311 Route 31. Attendees can enter at the Tryon Grove Road entrance to park for free.
The event is meant to strengthen rapport between the community and first responders, including police officers and firefighters. Communities around the county and nation hold National Night Out events annually.
The event also will celebrate Illinois’ 200th year of statehood. Food, children’s activities and music will be part of the festivities.
Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item for Richmond’s food pantry.
