A Fox River Grove man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl he knew is expected to make a court appearance Thursday.
Police arrested 57-year-old Bryan D. Stahl at 10:40 p.m. Monday, according to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court. Stahl, of the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue, is accused of sexually assaulting the girl Saturday, according to the complaint.
He is charged with criminal sexual assault, which typically carries a penalty of as many as 15 years in prison.
The assault was reported to the Fox River Grove Police Department, which continues to investigate the situation, Police Chief Eric Waitrovich said Wednesday.
Waitrovich declined to comment on details while the investigation is ongoing.
Stahl previously had a license to practice dentistry in Fox River Grove. He let that license expire, however, in 2012, according to Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation records.
Stahl has no previous criminal charges in McHenry County, court records show.
He remained at the McHenry County Jail on Wednesday afternoon on a $50,000 bond, meaning he would need to post $5,000 bail to be released.
Stahl is scheduled to appear in court with a public defender Thursday morning.
McHenry County Assistant State’s Attorney John Gibbons could not be reached to comment on details surrounding the investigation.
