The Woodstock Square will transform into a “wizarding world” Thursday.
The city, Woodstock Public Library and Woodstock Chamber of Commerce are hosting the second “Wizarding World of Woodstock” event from 4 to 11 p.m. Thursday on the Square.
The event drew hundreds of visitors from across Illinois last year in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the original “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”
Activities will include a costume scavenger hunt, petting zoo, balloon sculptures, Quidditch in the Park on the Square, a sorting hat activity, family trivia, live owls with the McHenry County Conservation District and the showing of Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Food will be available, including the food trucks Your Sister’s Tomato, Riverside Chocolates, Pixie Dawgs and the Perk n’ Pickle.
A shuttle bus will operate from 3:30 to 9 p.m. to bring participants from Woodstock High School, 501 W. South St., to Calhoun Street, behind the Opera House.
The Woodstock Public Library will close at 2 p.m. Thursday so staff can run activities at the event, according to its website. Registration on the library’s website is encouraged but not required to attend. Those who register will receive a chance to win a door prize and get early access to the event map.
A full schedule of events also is listed on the library’s website at www.woodstockpubliclibrary.org/library/page/wizarding-world-woodstock-2018.
