To the Editor:
The current humanitarian crisis that took place when children were separated from their parents highlights what is wrong with our current politicians.
Yes, we need secure borders and understandable, enforceable immigration laws and yes, we need to treat all people in a humane, Christian way.
The issue is that both parties only offer solutions that cater to the singular view of their base and forget about representing all of their constituents. So they apparently are unable or unwilling to find a solution that both treats people with dignity and gives us reasonable immigration laws.
The only solution is that we must lead by electing people who are capable of serving all their constituents and developing reasonable solutions to our issues. Solutions for energy and resources in the future, providing higher education for our population, maintaining our infrastructure, providing a clean, healthy environment and health care that serves all Americans.
The politicians presently in office have created an us-vs.-them mentality that has separated and divided us. We need to elect people that still see us as one group, Americans, and have the intelligence and wisdom to create solutions that do not cater to one group and anger the other, but is the best solution for all of us.
It seems those in office have had their chance. Democrat or Republican, we need to elect new, good, decent, intelligent people. We have 100 days to do some serious work and find some new people to represent us.
