House fire near Harvard causes $100K in damage

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District are investigating a fire that caused $100,000 in damage to a home Sunday morning.

First responders were dispatched about 5:30 a.m. to the 16100 block of Green Road near Harvard. A two-story residence was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival, according to a news release from the district.

No one was injured in the fire.

No fire hydrants were available as a water source in the rural area, so crews from Woodstock, Wonder Lake, Harvard, Spring Grove, Richmond Township, McHenry Township, Union, Crystal Lake, Marengo and Wisconsin assisted, according to the release.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control by 6:30 a.m., but they remained at the scene until about
10 a.m., according to the release.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
