Four golfers broke 40 as Crystal Lake Central’s co-op team defeated Richmond-Burton, 160-219, in their nonconference girls golf dual match Wednesday at Turnberry Country Club in Crystal Lake.
Central’s Molly Lyne took top honors at 35, while Renata Petersen shot 38 and Kat Bevill added a 39 for the Tigers. R-B’s Lauryn Davis also shot 39.
Arden Podpora shot 48 for Central’s other counting score. Alaina Robinson shot a 53 for the Rockets.
Hampshire 202, South Elgin co-op 211: At Elgin, the Whip-Purs (4-1) got 49s from Gianna Farinella and Grace Fuller as they defeated the Storm in a nonconference match at The Highlands.
Jade Swanson shot 51 and Delaney Marcuccilli had a 53 for Hampshire.
Prairie Ridge 190, Marengo 253: At Cary, Sophia Pascente shot a 45 to lead the Wolves to a nonconference win over the Indians at Chalet Hills in Cary.
Morgan Taylor and Grace VanHyfte each shot 46s for Prairie Ridge. Elizabeth Tucker and Alexis Baron both had 53s.
Carlie Seeman led Marengo with a 57.
Burlington Central 174, Johnsburg 206: At Sycamore, the Rockets defeated the Skyhawks (0-3, 0-2) in their Kishwaukee River Conference dual match at the Sycamore Park District Golf Course.
Ellie Johnson and Gracie Berthoud each shot 49s to lead the Skyhawks.
Jacobs 187, McHenry 217: Lauren Kempf fired a 40 to take medalist honors and lead the Golden Eagles to a Fox Valley Conference dual victory over the Warriors at Boone Creek.
McHenry’s Sarah Fergus shot a 41. Jacobs got a 43 from Roslyn Leitner and a 48 from Peyton Bendis.
Prairie Ridge 2, Dundee-Crown 0: At Carpentersville, Trinity Sheridan and Olivia Annen each had five kills as the Wolves (3-0, 2-0) won their Fox Valley Conference match 25-13, 25-11 over the Chargers (0-2, 0-2).
Jayden Otto had 17 assists and Hannah Baudin had six aces and 10 digs for Prairie Ridge. Sheridan also had two serving aces.
D-C’s Jenna Brown had three kills, Payton Schmidt had four assists and Natalia Smiech had six digs. Hannah Krispin had two blocks.
Richmond-Burton 2, Genoa-Kingston 0: At Richmond, Kaitlyn Suhr had eight kills, eight assists and two aces to lead the Rockets to a nonconference win over the Cogs in their season opener.
Abby Svenson added five kills and 13 digs. Sammy Duncan also had five kills, while Bella Cecchi had 11 digs and two aces.
Crystal Lake South 2 Hampshire 0: At Crystal Lake, Kenzie Wilson had 17 assists and Megan House had nine kills as the Gators (1-1, 1-1) won their FVC match over the Whip-Purs 25-20, 25-14.
Jamie Maule had 10 digs and Megan Landon had three blocks for South.
Jacobs 2, McHenry 0: At McHenry, the Golden Eagles handed the Warriors a 25-22, 25-16 FVC loss behind five kills each from Jordyn Kelly and Jaclyn Poirier. Maddie Breeze had seven digs for Jacobs (1-1, 1-1 FVC), and Rachel Kaczorowski added six digs and 12 assists. Kristen Wilson and Tai Ramirez each had two aces in the sweep.
McHenry falls to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the FVC.
South Beloit 2, Harvard 0: At Harvard, Desiree Brady had four kills and Yesenia Garcia had three serving aces as the Hornets fell in their nonconference season opener to the Sobos 25-21, 25-20.
Dianayeli Plata had 14 digs, Alex Cooke had nine assists and Haley Tittle had two blocks for Harvard.
Crystal Lake Central 7, South Elgin 0: At Crystal Lake, the Tigers lost only one set to the Storm to win their nonconference dual in the season opener.
Giselle Lemke (No. 1), Ellie McGinnis (No. 2) and Julia Fier (No. 3) won in straight sets, losing only one game. Katie Haviland and Cassie Preshlock (No. 2), Morgann Paaske and Emma Grindstaff (No. 3) and Delaney Jenkins and Hannah Pipitone (No. 4) won in straight doubles sets. Kyleigh and Kenna Kessler (No. 1) won their match in three sets.
Grant 4, Woodstock 3: At Woodstock, the Blue Streaks won three doubles matches in their nonconference loss to the Bulldogs.
Alexa Norgard and Meghan Sutter (No. 1), Amy Keyzer and Kelsey Perkins (No. 2) and Emma Martin and Sarah Caspari (No. 3) all won their matches in three sets.
Grayslake Central 4, Cary-Grove 3: At Grayslake, Kaitlin Warner (No. 2) and Lori Begun (No. 3) won their singles matches for the Trojans, who dropped their nonconference dual match to the Rams.
C-G’s Karina Los and Alina Krembuszewski won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, but Grayslake Central outlasted the Trojans for three three-set victories to win the match.
St. Charles North 6, Huntley 1: At St. Charles, Carina Bowman won at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2 for the Red Raiders’ lone victory in their dual match loss to the North Stars.
Huntley (4-4) had a close loss for No. 1 player Rahi Galati, 6-1, 1-6, 14-12, and suffered two other three-set losses.
Crystal Lake South 1, Streamwood 0: At Streamwood, Jack Wruck scored in the first half and the Gators (3-0) made it stand for a nonconference win over the Sabres.
Matt McCaleb had five saves in goal for South.
Harvard 2, Johnsburg 2: At Harvard, Noah Strote and Michael Grunder each scored in the second half to lift Johnsburg into a tie with Harvard in their Kishwaukee River Conference game.
The Hornets got a first-half goal from Adrian Gorostieta, off an assist from Ivaan Gomez, then another in the second half from Gia Salas with an assist by Miguel Juarez.
The Skyhawks (1-0-1, 1-0-1 KRC) came back with their two for the tie. M.J. Alvarez and Nathan Grunder assisted on Johnsburg’s goals. Skyhawks goalkeeper Ryan Roos had 12 saves.
Boylan 1, Huntley 0: At Huntley, the Red Raiders fell to the Titans, who scored on a free kick in the 71st minute of their nonconference game.
Lucas Clementsen had eight saves for the Raiders (0-2).
Jacobs 0, Lake Zurich 0: At Algonquin, Preston Kahl had four saves as the Golden Eagles played to a draw with the Bears in their nonconference game.
Dundee-Crown 1, Round Lake 0: At Lake Forest, Roland Dearborn scored in the second half as the Chargers (1-1-0) defeated the Panthers in a nonconference game.
Dearborn’s goal came in the 43rd minute off an assist from Ivan Aviles. Damian Smiech had two saves in goal.
St. Edward 7, Marian Central 0: At Elgin, the Green Wave rolled past the Hurricanes in their nonconference game. Marian goalkeeper Caleb Taylor had seven saves.
McHenry 2, Bartlett 2: At Barlett, the Warriors and Bartlett traded a pair of second half goals in their nonconference draw.
Danny Quinonez got McHenry (0-1-1) on the board, and Nate Reinhart put away the second goal. Jason Mendez and Jose Lira were credited with assists, and keeper Austin Lichtenstein finished with eight saves.
McHenry 158, Dundee-Crown 172: At Bonnie Dundee in Carpentersville, McHenry’s Truman Keppy and D-C’s Matt McQuillen each shot 37s to tie for medalist honors as the Warriors won the FVC dual match.
Spencer Rudd shot 39, while Ryan Peters, James Gordon and Mason McCormick all shot 41s for the Warriors.
Ben Bartelt shot a 43 and Jake Zirlin had a 44 for the Chargers.
Prairie Ridge 164, Hampshire 175: At Randall Oaks in West Dundee, the Whip-Purs’ Craig Bracke shot 3-over 39 to take top honors, but the Wolves won the FVC dual match.
Connor Hamilton shot 40 to lead the Wolves. Dominic Leli and Eddie Winkelman had 41s and Hunter Fredrick had a 42.
