Police activity shut down the area of Fair Oaks and Charlotte avenues in Crystal Lake for about two hours Monday night.
At about 8:05 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic incident involving a 25-year-old male in the 400 block of Charlotte Avenue, Sgt. Aimee Knop said.
A Nixle alert from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, sent shortly after 9 p.m., asked residents to avoid the area because of “police activity.”
“If in the area, please stay indoors until further notice,” the alert stated.
Members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Crystal Lake Police Department were on the scene.
An alert sent about 11:08 p.m. said the police activity had ended.
An investigation into the incident still is ongoing, and charges against the individual may be forthcoming, Knop said.
