ATMs in Crystal Lake compromised with skimming devices, police say

Electronic skimming devices were used on several Home State Bank cash machines to unlawfully record customer account information, according to the Crystal Lake Police Department.

The devices were used sometime in the past month and compromised the accounts of several customers, according to a news release sent Saturday.

Crystal Lake police are investigating.

Authorities are encouraging anyone who has used a Home State Bank ATM to report missing funds or unauthorized activity on their bank accounts to Home State Bank and police.

Any signs of tampering on an ATM should be reported, police said.

Anyone with information about the ATM incidents can call the Crystal Lake Police Department at 815-356-3620. Anonymous tips can be texted to police by sending the code “CLPDTIP” along with the information to 847411 (tip411).
