Crystal Lake South forward Alex Canfield scored twice, and the Gators beat Wauconda, 4-1, in the championship match of the Wauconda Sanchez Memorial Tournament on Saturday in Wauconda.
Wauconda (2-2-1) scored the game’s first goal. The Gators (5-0-1) answered with a goal from Tom Coughlin, assisted by Andrew Edge. Ty Getzinger gave South the lead on a free kick goal later in the first half.
After halftime, Canfield scored twice, one assisted by Ryan Coughlin and one assisted by goalkeeper Matt McCaleb on a long punt. McCaleb made one save in the match.
North Chicago 1, Marian Central 0: At the Wauconda Sanchez Memorial Tournament, Marian Central goalkeeper Caleb Taylor made nine saves in a loss to North Chicago. The Hurricanes dropped to 0-6 on the season.
McHenry 1, Palatine 1: At the Wauconda Sanchez Memorial Tournament, Alex Fiorita scored McHenry’s only goal in a draw against Palatine. Goalkeeper Austin Lichtenstein made five saves for the Warriors (2-2-2).
Jacobs 4, Conant 1: At the Barrington Tournament, Jacobs’ Johnny O’Connor scored twice in a win over Conant. Liam Armstrong opened the scoring with a goal assisted by Austin Snobel. Conant later scored an own goal on a Snobel corner kick. Tarek Shah also had one assist. Jacobs improves to 2-2-2.
Grayslake Central Tournament: Richmond-Burton went 1-4 at the Grayslake Central Tournament. R-B defeated Wauconda, 25-21, 25-27, 15-8, for its lone win Saturday. The Rockets suffered three-set losses to Regina, Grayslake Central and in a rematch against Wauconda. Grayslake North swept R-B in two sets.
R-B moves to 3-5 on the season.
