Due to heavy downpours over the weekend, the Fox River in Algonquin is nearing flood stage and Zones A and B are under a no-wake restriction, according to news releases from the McHenry County Emergency Management Agency and the Fox Waterway Association.
Zone A extends north from the Algonquin dam in Algonquin (river mile 82.75) to the William G. Stratton lock and dam (river mile 99), near McHenry. Zone B extends from the Stratton lock and dam to the entrance at Pistakee Lake (river mile 106). Mile markers are located along the shores of the waterway.
All boats must proceed at a slow, no-wake pace.
A debris advisory is also in effect. Any debris-related issues can be reported at www.foxwaterway.com.
The river reached 8.59 feet as of 8:30 a.m. Monday, according to the emergency management agency. The flood stage is 9.5 feet.
