A Hebron man will serve six years in prison for sexually abusing a young girl who refused to engage in a sex act for money, authorities said.
Christopher R. Brown, 33, of the 111500 block of Maple Avenue, entered a plea deal Thursday and pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse. McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather sentenced Brown to six years in prison.
An additional charge of soliciting a sex act was dismissed as a result of the negotiated plea, records show.
The charges stemmed from claims that in March, Brown tried to pay a girl money in exchange for a sex act, police said.
When she refused, he sexually abused her, according to a news release at the time.
The victim was between 13 and
17 years old.
Brown is required to register for life as a sex offender when he is released from the Illinois Department of Corrections, according to a news release from the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office sent Tuesday.
He previously served two years in prison after pleading guilty to a separate 2015 aggravated battery charge, records show.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office investigated Brown’s most recent charges, which were prosecuted by McHenry County Assistant State’s Attorney Rita Gara.
