Community High School District 155 began accepting bids Wednesday for the 13,000-square-foot former Haber Oaks Campus, 400 Haber Road, Cary, according to a news release from the district.
The district will publicly open bids at 10 a.m. Oct. 4 at the district office,
1 S. Virginia Road, Crystal Lake.
Before that, the district is hosting two open houses for potential buyers and bidders from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday and 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 17. Private showings also can be requested by emailing HOCPublicBid@d155.org or calling the district office at 815-893-5472.
In February, the District 155 board voted to close the alternative school at the end of the school year, a move that would save the district about $70,000 a year in operational costs. The board also approved $700,000 in renovations to the first floor of Crystal Lake South High School, where Haber Oaks students would be relocated for the 2018-19 school year.
The decision, rebuked by some Haber Oaks parents, came in light of a $56,750 feasibility study commissioned by the district to assess its building use as overall enrollment continues to decline. The study showed that South has the most space of all four District 155 high schools.
The main building sits on about
3 acres of land, which includes a storage facility. The main building is fully air-conditioned with 35 parking spaces.
The District 155 board approved a resolution authorizing the sale of Haber Oaks during its Aug. 21 meeting. For information – including floor plans, site images and a virtual tour – visit www.400haber.com.
