Junior forward Alex Canfield scored five goals for the Crystal Lake South boys soccer team in an 8-0 nonconference victory over Rockford Auburn on Thursday in Crystal Lake.
Brad Grabowski had a goal and an assist for South (6-0-1). Garrett Schneider and Michal Dejworek each scored goals. Tom Coughlin had two assists, and Nick Langdon and Ryan Coughlin each added one assist.
Gators goalkeepers Matt McCaleb and Oscar Estrada split time. Estrada made one save, and McCaleb did not need to make any.
Richmond-Burton 3, Marengo 2: At Marengo, Ethan Demers scored twice for R-B in a Kishwaukee River Conference win over Marengo. Hayden Rudkin opened the scoring with an assist from Austin Gilson. Gilson finished with two assists. Payton May added one assist. All three Rockets goals came in the first half.
Goalkeeper Jacob Maldonado made four saves for R-B (3-4-2, 1-2-1 KRC).
Crystal Lake Central 1, Belvidere 1: At Belvidere, Central's Joey Cummings scored a goal shortly after halftime, with an assist from Bryden Freund. Belvidere evened the score with 12 minutes remaining, and the teams played to a nonconference draw.
For Central (2-2-1), Joseph Perez made six saves.
Cary-Grove 1, Huntley 0: At Cary, Kolin Fadden scored the game’s only goal in a Fox Valley Conference win for the Trojans. Drew Szydlo had an assist for C-G (2-1-2, 1-0).
C-G goalkeeper Nick Reineking made one save, and teammate Jason Pusic made three saves.
Lucas Clemetsen made three saves for Huntley (0-6, 0-2), playing all 80 minutes.
Geneva 1, Jacobs 0: At Geneva, Geneva shut out the Golden Eagles (2-3-2) in nonconference play.
Crystal Lake Central 5, Crystal Lake South 2: At Crystal Lake South, the Tigers defeated the crosstown rival Gators in FVC play. Ellie McGinnis and Julia Fier won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
Katie Haviland and Morgann Paaske won at No. 2 doubles. Rachel Passapera and Emma Grindstaff won at No. 3 doubles. Delaney Jenkins and Hannah Pipitone won at No. 4 doubles for Central (5-1, 3-0).
For South, Skylar Olsen defeated Central’s Giselle Lemke at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1. South’s Hannah Schuetzle and Sarah Shuetzle won at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 6-3, over Kyleigh Kessler and Kenna Kessler.
Cary-Grove 7, Hampshire 0: At Cary, the Trojans did not lose a set as they swept the Whip-Purs in their FVC dual meet.
Bethany Marshall (No. 1), Kaitlin Warner (No. 2) and Lori Begun (No. 3) won at singles. Karina Los and Alina Krembuszrewski (No. 1), Jazzy Flashing and Elizabeth Lalond (No. 2), Julie Pietrzyk and Jenna Briggs (No. 3) and Grace O’Malley and Alli Johnson (No.4) were the winning doubles teams.
Jacobs 7, Dundee-Crown 0: At Algonquin, the Golden Eagles swept the Chargers to move to 7-0 and 3-0 in FVC duals.
Lindsay Cunningham, Brianna Japkowski and Lindsey Taylor won singles matches. Ramya Nissankula and Rebecca Mudge won at No. 1 doubles. Kaya Trumbo and Isha Desai won at No. 2 doubles. Jacobs 5, Glenbard North 1: At Algonquin, all four Jacobs doubles pairs won in the day’s second dual meet for the Golden Eagles. Japkowski earned a victory at No. 2 singles. Nissankula and Mudge won at No. 1 doubles, Trumbo and Desai won at No. 2 doubles, Neruda and Taylor won at No. 3 doubles, while Atkinson and Adame won at No. 4 doubles.
Huntley 5, Prairie Ridge 2: At Crystal Lake, Ruhi Gulati and Carina Bowman won singles matches for the Red Raiders (7-5, 2-1) in an FVC win over Prairie Ridge.
Huntley’s Riley Conradt and Michelle Barnvos won, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 1 singles against Maddie Ljunggren and Kaitlyn Theil. Gabby Kosowski and Kylie Phommasack won at No. 3 doubles, and Raegan Hilbrant and Hannah Hyslop earned a victory at No. 4 doubles for Huntley.
For Prairie Ridge, Ela Kusmierz defeated Samia Desai at No. 2 singles. The Wolves’ Colette Reiche and Georgie Durrant won at No. 2 doubles.
Prairie Ridge 2, Jacobs 0: At Algonquin, Jayden Otto had 22 assists, two kills and six digs as the Wolves defeated the Golden Eagles, 25-15, 25-14, in their FVC match.
Olivia Annen had five kills and six digs, and Sammi Lockwood had four kills for the Wolves (7-1, 6-0 FVC).
For Jacobs (2-8, 1-4), Maggie Wallenberger had a team-high seven kills. Jordyn Kelly recorded 15 digs, and Rachel Kaczorow had 17 assists. Jaclyn Poirier and Tai Ramirez added five kills each.
Crystal Lake South 2, Dundee-Crown 0: At Crystal Lake, the Gators earned an FVC victory.
For D-C (0-6, 0-5 KRC), Olivia Miller had five kills, and MacKenzie Field added four kills. Jenna Brown had seven assists and seven digs. Natalia Smiech added seven digs.
Marengo 2, Richmond-Burton 1: At Marengo, Lillie Simons contributed 10 kills and 10 blocks as the Indians rallied after losing the first set to defeat the Rockets in their KRC match, 22-25, 25-17, 25-21.
Bailey Bertrand had nine kills and one ace for the Indians (8-2, 2-0). Hannah Ritter and Hannah Faber each had six kills, Abigail Vito had 29 assists and four kills, and Kaetlyn Jeschke had 13 digs.
R-B (2-2, 0-2) got nine assists and 10 kills from Kaitlyn Suhr. Jessie Klicker had 13 assists, Abby Svenson had 13 kills and Belle Cecchi had 12 digs.
Alden-Hebron 2, Parkview Christian 0: At Hebron, Taylor Horton recorded nine assists and six digs for the Giants in a Northeastern Athletic Conference victory. Zoe Deeringer contributed four kills and six assists. Melanie Nielsen had four kills and two blocks for A-H (5-1, 2-0 NAC).
Woodstock North 2, Burlington Central 0: At Burlington, Emily Eder had 15 assists, three aces and four digs for North in a KRC victory, 25-19, 25-19, over the Rockets. Lauren Kunke had 11 digs and one ace. Brooke Amann led North (5-4, 2-0) with 12 kills and added two blocks.
Belvidere North 150, Woodstock co-op 148: At Woodstock, freshman Haley Halsall won the 100-yard butterfly to lead the Blue Streaks in a narrow dual-meet loss to the Blue Thunder.
Richmond-Burton 173, Woodstock co-op 179: At Twin Lakes Country Club in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, Jack Bolman led Richmond-Burton to a KRC victory with a 1-over-par 36. Connor Lindley shot a 40. Hunter Volkmar shot a 48 and Ryan Eskuri shot a 48 for R-B (4-3, 2-0).
Woodstock’s Evan Bridges shot a team-low 38. Kenna Miles shot a 45, Shane Colby shot a 47 and Jack Cunningham shot a 49.
Huntley 157, Crystal Lake Central 174: At Pinecrest in Huntley, three Red Raiders shot 5-over-par 39 in an FVC victory. Garrett Heinke, Jacob Burnquist and Danny Sheedy each shot a 39. Jack Wagner was one behind with a 40. The Raiders moved to 2-1 in FVC play.
Central’s Eric Klutke earned medalist honors with a 4-over 38. Bayden Hubacher shot a 44, Ethan Bass recorded a 45 and Spencer Thome shot a 47. The Tigers fell to 0-4 in the FVC.
Crystal Lake South 161, Dundee-Crown 179: At Bonnie Dundee in Carpentersville, Ricky Falbo shot a 3-over 39 to lead the Gators to an FVC dual win over the Chargers.
Casey Hunter (40), Tanner Coakley (40) and John Lishchynsky (41) rounded out the scoring for South.
D-C was led by Jake Zirlin’s 42. Matt McQuillen (45), Aidan Svec (45) and Josh Dulla (47) had the Chargers’ other counting scores.
Cary-Grove 176, McHenry 179: At McHenry Country Club, Trevor Brandon tied for medalist honors to lead the Trojans past the Warriors in their FVC dual meet.
Trevor Beaugureau, Patrick Tobin and Joey Vitullo all shot 45s for C-G.
Truman Keppy tied Brandon for medalist to lead the Warriors. Liam Neilsen (44), Spencer Rudd (45), Ryan Peters (49) and Charlie Yuza (49) had McHenry’s other counting scores.
Hampshire 162, Burlington Central 195: At Randall Oaks in West Dundee, Mark Spitzer shot an even-par 35 for Hampshire in a nonconference victory over Burlington Central.
Aaron Staszewski shot a 4-over 39. Craig Bracke shot a 5-over 40. Justin Heusmann shot a 48 to round out the Whip-Purs scoring.
Crystal Lake Central co-op 173, Prairie Ridge 182: At Chalet Hills in Cary, Molly Lyne shot a 37 to lead the Tigers to victory. Renata Petersen shot a 42, Kat Bevill shot a 43 and Joella Greeley added a 51.
Prairie Ridge’s Morgan Taylor shot a 41, Sophia Pascente shot a 43, and Elizabeth Tucker and Grace VanHyfte each shot a 49.
