The Fox Waterway Agency will open the Chain O' Lakes on Wednesday for normalized boating use, according to an alert from executive assistant Kristine Pearson. Recent floods previously closed the lakes and parts of the Fox River.
Effective at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Zone C – which includes the Chain O’ Lakes and extends from the mouth of the Fox River at Pistakee Lake north to the Wisconsin state line – will reopen for normalized boating, Pearson said. A debris advisory will remain in effect.
The area on the Fox River between the Algonquin and McHenry dams (Zone A) and the area from the McHenry dam to the entrance of Pistakee Lake (Zone B) will remain in no-wake status, and a debris advisory for the area will remain in effect.
