Letter: Time to listen to voters

To the Editor:

I am writing today to say how ashamed I am that the McHenry Township trustees did not even take the time to interview all six of the candidates who applied for the McHenry Township trustee position, nor take the recommendations from its party for an appointment to the board, and simply appointed Steve Verr to fill the vacated seat to replace Bill Cunningham.

They have no credibility, and these are the same people who ran on transparency. They said they would “stop nepotism” and “stop appointments.” Correct me if I am wrong, but Verr ran for supervisor with this group of trustees. He was not one of the candidates the McHenry Township GOP recommended, yet, they appointed him even though they were filling the seat of an elected Republican candidate.

Seems a bit “backroom” if you ask me. But this is the same group that held a loaded caucus and hand-picked themselves to run. Enough of the lies. Come November, vote no on the referendum to eliminate the township road district. They wouldn’t even listen to the residents who asked for a cost study. Apparently, they think they know more than the voters. Be an educated voter.
