A woman who police said checked out but never returned DVDs and video games from the Algonquin Area Public Library was ordered to serve two years of probation and pay more than $1,000 in reimbursement.
McHenry County Judge James Cowlin sentenced Pacheco, 26, to probation and ordered her to pay $1,820 in restitution.
In August, Pacheco was ordered to serve 90 days in the Lake County Jail for a separate retail theft conviction, public records show.
Pacheco’s charges in McHenry County stemmed from materials she allegedly checked out Dec. 12, 2016, and as of Wednesday afternoon, had not returned, Algonquin library Executive Director Sara Murray said.
Library officials tried for about a year to recover the DVD sets, video games and books valued at more than $2,000.
Murray did not say which DVDs or games Pacheco allegedly checked out.
In September 2014, the Algonquin Area Public Library District stopped charging cardholders overdue fines, although they still can be billed for items more than two weeks overdue and barred from checking out additional materials.
