The Fox Lake Police Department will be enforcing traffic laws to enhance vehicle and bicycle safety on Sunday.
This day of enforcement is sponsored by Ride Illinois through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Earlier this summer, the Fox Lake Police Department received a grant from RideIllinois.org, as part of a larger grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The grant was for the purpose of promoting bicycle safety education in schools, police departments, and within the commuting public.
The members of the Fox Lake Police Department first participated in the program by completing training through BikeSafetyQuiz.com. The public is also encouraged to visit the website and complete the training.
The second part of the program involves a single-day traffic enforcement campaign, focused on traffic laws that apply to both vehicles and bicycles.
On Sunday, this enforcement campaign will be targeting the areas of Route 12 and Rollins Road in Fox Lake.
As more bicycles and vehicles share the road, it is important that drivers and bicyclists adhere to traffic laws, so we can safely use the roads together.
