Just as the temperature is set to drop to the high 60s, the Huntley Fall Fest will be celebrating its 13th year in the community with a carnival, fireworks, plenty of musical performance and a number of other activities.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday at the Park District, 12015 Mill St., next to Deicke Park. That evening, a book sale and model train display will be set up at the Rec Center Gymnasium until 9 p.m.

There also will be performances from Semple, a Chicago-based band covering a variety of music from The Beatles to modern pop songs, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Bella Cain, one of the most in-demand country groups in the region, from 9 to 11 p.m. at the First National Bank Main Stage.

On Saturday, Kopf Running will sponsor a 5K run to benefit Action for Healthy Kids, an organization that promotes healthy eating, physical activity and healthier schools, at 8 a.m. at Betsey Warrington Park, 12209 W. Main St. Registration, which is available on the Fall Fest website, is $30 through Friday and $35 on race day.

Other Saturday activities will include a pancake breakfast, craft and home business show, scarecrow building, business expo, tractor show and car show, plus performances from young rock band LiveWire, all-female pop and rock band Serendipity, country group Hillbilly Rockstarz, arena rock cover band The Lounge Puppets and Chicago rock band 7th Heaven.

However, one of the most-watched events Saturday is the fireworks display starting at 8:45 p.m.

On Sunday, there will be musical performances from pop and rock band The Millennials and ’80s rock cover band Hi Infidelity.

Windy City Amusements will provide carnival rides and games throughout the weekend. Unlimited ride specials will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday for $30 a person, 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday for $25 a person, 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday for $30 a person and 1 to 7 p.m. on Sunday for $30 a person. Mega passes, which allow unlimited rides through the whole event, are $60 a person when purchased online by Thursday.

A number of food vendors also will be on hand, including Butcher on the Block, The Texan BBQ, Huntley’s Tacos Locos, Sammy’s Bar and Grill, Morkes Chocolates, Manny’s Handcrafted Gelato and Cafe, Dumpling House, Alfredo’s Pizza and Pasta, Plum Garden, Kona Ice and Culver’s.
