Letter: Township and road district not broken, new trustees are

To the Editor:

McHenry Township has four new board members. They are Bob Anderson, Mike Rakestraw, Stan Woiewski and Steve Verr. Four new board members that have no clue how the township and road district serve their residents. What I am about to say is my opinion and I think as an American I’m allowed to have an opinion.

When you become an elected official, you should know your personal likes and dislike do not enter into the equation. You are elected to serve the people, not yourselves, as these four new board members (Bob Anderson, Mike Rakestraw, Stan Wojewski and Steve Verr) seem to be doing.

I understand that Steve Verr was recently appointed to replace Bill Cunningham, but I also understand the Anderson and Rakestraw have stated that they have worked with him for over 30 years, therefore I think it only right to include Verr in these comments.

The McHenry Township Road District has and under Mr. James Condon will continue to do the best job possible for our residents, and for these four new board members (Bob Anderson, Mike Rakestraw, Stan Wojewski and Steve Verr) to think they can do it better and cheaper is a joke and insult to the intelligent residents of McHenry Township.

They should be ashamed of themselves for not listening to you and thinking they know better than you the residents of McHenry Township. Please do your homework, then vote no for consolidating the road district into the township on Nov. 6.

If things are not broken, don’t fix them and our roads are not broken. The trustees are.
