To the Editor:
Keep small local government, keep McHenry Township Road District. There are two philosophies in government, the first is if you trust your government consolidate and save based on lower overhead and less local government. This is the case in many states such as Texas and Indiana where they have significantly less numbers of governments and their real estate taxes are lower than Illinois.
The other philosophy is if you don't trust your larger government bodies such as the state or county, you keep as much control locally, where you are able to have greater impact on the services you would like. This, my friends, is exactly what we need to be doing in Illinois.
Yet McHenry Township Trustees would have you believe the eliminating the Road District and eventually the township will save you money by lowering taxes. When asked to provide facts, they just say trust us. Right, trust a politician in Illinois that won't provide you with facts.
I think it's time to impeach the McHenry Township Trustees and replace them with someone who believes in small local government control like townships. Vote no in November!
