A McHenry man has been charged after he fled the scene of a two-car crash Friday, police said.
The McHenry Police Department responded about 10 p.m. Friday to the 300 block of Front Street (Route 31) after a driver lost control of his Toyota Camry, which rolled onto its roof and struck a Ford Focus, McHenry Deputy Police Chief Tom Walsh said.
Both vehicles were traveling south on Front Street at the time of the collision, he said. The driver of the Camry fled the scene, but investigating officers found him in the back parking lot of a vacant restaurant in the 200 block of North Front Street.
Rogelio Rico, 29, of the 4700 block of Home Avenue in McHenry, was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and leaving the scene of a crash.
Rico was taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with minor injuries before his booking.
Rico has been released on bond and is set to appear in court Oct. 3, Walsh said.
The driver and passenger of the Ford were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation, and more charges might be coming, Walsh said.
